The round-up

The Clematis crash.

Car crash

Two people were taken to hospital following a car crash on Belgrave-Hallam Road in Belgrave on 18 June.

Police closed the road for an hour as emergency response units worked to remove the car which slid off the road and down an embankment.

It’s understood the vehicle lost traction in wet weather, hit the shoulder of the road and went down the embankment.

Two passengers were taken to hospital for assessment.

Police reminded road users to drive to the conditions and slow down in wet weather.

Three crashes in the same night

Police are urging drivers to remain aware and slow down following three car crashes in one night.

At 4pm on 23 June, Emerald Police attended a single-vehicle crash along Bailey Road in Cockatoo when the vehicle’s driver lost control and hit a tree.

The driver was travelling towards Emerald, and suffered no injuries.

Only an hour later at 5.50pm, Emerald Police were called to a three-car collision on Wellington Road.

Police told the Mail that a car turning right on Wellington Road was rear-ended and pushed into oncoming traffic where it collided with a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction, towards Emerald.

One person was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

A third accident occurred at the Belgave-Gembrook Road and Beaconsfield-Emerald Road roundabout in Clematis at 7pm when one vehicle failed to give way, police said.

CFA and SES services were called to the scene due to a vehicle rollover as a result of the accident.

Police said that in all instances the weather was not a contributing factor and urged drivers to remain aware.
