Vic Emergency advises thunderstorm threat is reduced

The storm that was threatening the Yarra Ranges has been downgraded by Vic Emergency.

The severe thunderstorm warning for Greater Melbourne this morning was cancelled, with the threat considered reduced as of 9.34am. This followed the Watch and Act message issued at 8.21am

Vic Emergency advises residents to:

Check your property for damage

Keep clear of damaged buildings, power lines and trees.

Drivers in Mount Evelyn should remain wary and make sure they are:

Aware of road hazards including fallen trees, floodwater and debris on the road.

Driving slowly and obeying all road signs.

A truck crash occurred on Maroondah Highway in Lilydale which has been deemed under control as of 11:33am but the highway remains closed as CFA crews clean up.

A request for assistance as a result of flooding in Coldstream as of 10:02am was also issued.

The next update was expected 12:40pm or as the situation changes.
