Yarra Ranges Council has advised the community of an indefinite but temporary closure of the Kilsyth Centenary Pool after damage to the inflatable dome was identified.

The pool will be closed from 4pm on Wednesday 1 March until further notice.

During routine maintenance and following recent vandalism, some structural issues were identified relating to the inflated dome that encloses the pool, requiring detailed investigation.

Unfortunately, due to the unique construction of the dome, investigations will be complex and will require the dome be deflated, hence the need to close the pool.

“The decision to close the pool during the structural assessment is not taken lightly, however the safety of our community and staff is paramount,” Yarra Ranges Council said.

The council will work with the aquatics contract partner, Belgravia Leisure, to support all members and customers affected by this closure with alternative arrangements. Further communications will come through Belgravia on this.

The council apologised for any inconvenience this causes and will keep people informed throughout as information becomes available.
