The Lilydale Train Line has been suspended causing major delays for commuters due to an equipment fault.

Buses were called in to replace trains from 7.30am on Friday 7 July on the Lilydale Line between Ringwood and Mooroolbark because of the fault.

Trains will continue to operate between Flinders Street and Ringwood, with delays likely.

“We ask passengers planning travel this morning to check station platform displays, listen for announcements, and allow extra time for their journey,” a Department of Transport spokesperson said.

Passengers may also consider using buses on routes 380 or 670 for local trips.

Services will resume when rectification works are complete.

Motorists are asked to be vigilant for extra pedestrians and buses around train stations on the Lilydale Line.

The VicRoads signals team is monitoring conditions in the area and will adjust traffic lights to assist with bus movements.

Real-time traffic conditions are available at traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au or via the VicTraffic mobile app. The latest public transport information and network status is available at ptv.vic.gov.au or in the PTV mobile app.
