A man has died in Montrose after reportedly falling into a silo at a worksite on Saturday afternoon.

It is understood the 54-year-old man had fallen about 18 metres though a void at the top of the silo before he was discovered around 3pm on Saturday 22 March.

It required an extensive emergency response.

Police, firefighters, paramedics and high angle rescue crews were all called to the Boral Quarry on Canterbury Road.

A WorkSafe spokeswoman confirmed WorkSafe is investigating.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.

The death is the fourth confirmed workplace fatality for 2025. There were 18 work-related deaths at the same time last year.
