Yarra Ranges residents are invited to submit their thoughts on the intention to sell four parcels of land.

The intention to sell the small blocks in Kilsyth and Mooroolbark follows the council’s proposal to purchase 3.6 hectares of former school land at 150 Cambridge Road Kilsyth, with results from a recent community engagement process largely supporting the move.

Part of this engagement process also asked the community about whether they supported the council in selling four smaller blocks of land to help fund the purchase of the former school site. This was also largely supported by the community.

Council will now progress investigation into the sale of four small blocks of land, which are:

• 182-184 Cambridge Road, Kilsyth

• 9A Wannan Court, Kilsyth

• 16 Ellis Court, Mooroolbark

• Part (2600m2) of 9 Tinarra Court, Kilsyth (the walkway section between Tinarra Court and Belinda Close will remain as Council ownership)

Walling Ward councillor Len Cox said the five-week engagement period would give the community another opportunity to provide their feedback.

“The notice of intention to sell council land is the next step in the process for us to look at the best way to help us fund the purchase of land at 150 Cambridge Road,” Cr Cox said.

“We’ve been really happy with the volume of feedback we’ve had so far during the previous engagements with the community, and we’d love to see that continue now with this particular community engagement opportunity.

“I invite anyone in the community with an interest in the sale of these blocks of land to make a submission, which we will then compile and report back to the community on at a meeting at a later date.”

When making a submission, community members can also identify whether or not they would like to speak to their submission at a meeting.
